IAS-TA20 Rack-Mount Tritium Air Monitor — Gamma Compensated, 19-inch 5U

A continuous area monitor for fixed tritium sampling points. It uses four wire-wall ionization chambers (two measuring, two for gamma compensation), switches range automatically and reports over Ethernet (Modbus/TCP) to your control system.

Fixed area monitor (19-inch rack) 120 V / 60 Hz US version Calibration certificate + CoC Updated September 2026

Quick answer

IAS-TA20 is a fixed area monitor (19-inch rack) in the IAS-T tritium monitoring series from Iodine Air Systems. It measures tritium from 3.7 × 10⁴ to 3.7 × 10¹¹ Bq/m³ (1 µCi/m³ to 10 Ci/m³). US 120 V / 60 Hz version; calibration certificate and certificate of conformance included; price on quotation.

What the IAS-TA20 does

The IAS-TA20 is built for long-term, unattended monitoring at a fixed sampling point: a tritium laboratory, a fuel-cycle room, a reactor building area at a heavy-water plant or a fusion hall. Sample air is pumped through two 1 L flow-through wire-wall ionization chambers. Two further chambers compensate for gamma background.

Wire-wall chamber designs generally expose less solid wall surface to the sample than conventional chambers, which helps limit tritium adsorption and "memory" of a past high reading. The electronics switch range automatically across seven decades and suppress zero drift, so readings stay stable over long unattended runs.

The instrument fits a standard 19-inch rack (5U) and reports over Ethernet using Modbus/TCP, so it can sit in a monitoring rack and feed the plant computer, a PLC or a SCADA historian.

IAS-TA20 FAQ

What is the difference between the IAS-TA20 and the IAS-TA30?

Both are fixed tritium air monitors with the same range. The IAS-TA20 is a 19-inch rack unit with gamma compensation chambers. The IAS-TA30 is a floor-standing cabinet with a local touchscreen and flow alarm. In areas with a significant gamma background, choose the gamma-compensated IAS-TA20.

Can the IAS-TA20 connect to our plant computer or PLC?

Yes. It has an Ethernet port using Modbus/TCP for remote reading and control. Ask us for the register list when you request a quote.

Why wire-wall ionization chambers?

Tritium adsorbs on chamber walls and can leave a residual reading after exposure to high concentrations (the memory effect). Wire-wall chambers present much less solid surface to the sample, which helps limit memory and speeds recovery.

What sample flow should I use?

The instrument accepts 1–9 L/min. Higher flow gives faster response at the end of a long sample line; about 2 L/min is a common starting point. Keep sample lines short, because tritiated water vapor adsorbs on tubing.

How much does the IAS-TA20 cost?

The IAS-TA20 is priced on quotation. The price depends on options, quantity, power version, documentation package and delivery destination. Send the quote form on this page or email sales@iodineairsystems.com, and we reply with price, lead time and the list of documents supplied.

Is the IAS-TA20 available for US 120 V power?

Yes. Mains-powered IAS-T models are available in a 120 V AC / 60 Hz US version, and in 220–230 V / 50 Hz for export.

What documents come with the IAS-TA20?

A factory calibration certificate, a certificate of conformance, product certification documents and an English operating manual. A commercial-grade dedication support package is available for purchasers who dedicate the instrument for safety-related use.
